Badusha

A sweet that the younger one likes.  And also my S-I-L.  Thought I would try it out and found a good recipe at Indian Cuisine

This is zoomed in, the actual badushas are about 1.5" in widht.

Ingredients:
For the dough :
Maida /Refined flour: 1 cups
Butter : 50 gms
Oil : 25 gms
Sugar : 1 tbsp
Cooking Soda - big pinch

For the Syrup :
Sugar : 1 1/2 cup
Water : 3/4 cup

Oil for deep frying

Start off on dough a little in advance:
Take the flour, add the soda
Mix the butter - blend into the flour with fingers.
Add the oil, mix well
Add sugar
And enough water to make a soft dough
Cover and keep aside for one hour.

Mix sugar and water and place on heat
Make a one string sugar syrup.

After one hour, take the dough and make small balls.
Flatten it and make a dimple in the centre

Heat oil
Fry on low flame till the badusha's are golden brown
Make sure the oil is not very hot, otherwise the surface will brown quickly and the insides will be raw.

Slip in the badusha's into warm syrup.
Keep for five minutes and then onto a plate.
Allow to cool thoroughly and then store in a container.
