Beans - Carrot Poriyal

A nice tasty, nutritious recipe from Cookery Corner . And Beans is also the younger one's favourite vegetable.
















Beans - 100 gms
Carrots - 2
Mung dal ( split green gram dhal) - 50 gms
Coconut - 3 tbsp grated ( 45 gms)
Green chillies - 5
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Red chilli - 1Red chilli - 1
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Urad dal ( black gram dal) - 1 tsp
Hing ( asafoetida) - pinch
Salt to taste
Oil for seasoning


Soak the moong dal in water for about 15 mins.
Dice Beans into small pieces.
Peel carrot and dice the carrot too.
Grind the coconut, green chili and cumin and keep aside.
Take a wok. Add oil.
Add the urad dal, red chilie and mustard. Add hing.
Wait till the mustard splutters. Add the curry leaves.
Add the soaked mung dal, beans, carrot
Saute, add a little water and allow to cook for 5 minutes.
Add the ground coconut mixture, turmeric, and salt to taste.
Add more water if required.
Cook till the vegetable is done.
