Masoor dhal with cabbage

Masoor dhal - 1/2 cup
Grated cabbage - 1 1/2 cup
bay leaf
dalchini - 1"
chillie powder- to taste
ghee - 2 tbsp
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
tomatoes - 3 or tomato puree
salt to taste


Soak the masoor dhal in water for an hour
Drain
Heat ghee, add dalchini and bay leaf
Add the soaked dhalAnd saute for about 3-4 minutes
Add the grated cabbage, simmer and saute for another 3-4 minutes
Add the chopped tomatoes ( I added the puree)
And the turmeric and chillie powder.
The recipe is not supposed to need any water.
However, if you feel that the water from tomatoes, cabbage is not enough. Add a little water, salt, cover and simmer till the dhal and vegetable is cooked.
This is a dry curry.
And serve with rotis or chappatis.
