Arachivitta Sambar - Papu atthi's


May serve 5

3/4 cup - tuvar dhal ( red gram) in the cooker with a little haldi

Vegetables that can be used:Drumstick ( adds the special flavour), onion, radish or bhendi or carrot, capsicum, onion, beans etc

Tamarind - either a lemon sized ball - soak or use use tamarind paste 2-3 table spoon - can be checked later and added if required.

One large tomato

To grind:

2 tbsps channa dhal

1 tbsp black gram ( urad) dhal

4 tbsp dhania seeds

4 red chillies

4-5 pepper corns

Saute in a little oil and just before removing - add 3-4 tbsp of coconut grating and saute

Grind all above with a little water - to a smooth paste.

Procedure:

Take oil - add mustard, methi ( few grains), channa dhal.

When mustard splutters, add curry leaves, the cut vegetables, curry leaves, add tomato, green chillies( 2 slit), cook with little water .

Add the tamarind paste, add the ground masala.

Cook till the vegetables are tender.

Add the boiled dhal. Keep on fire for a little while.

Add a small dollop of ghee before serving.
