Rasam



Tuvar Dal ( Red gram dhal) - 4 tablespoons
Tomatoes - One samall
Tamarind paste - 2 tsps
Rasam powder - 2 tsps
Haldi - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Garlic pods or paste ( optional) 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing

Seasoning: Oil, Mustard seeds, jeera ( cummin - optional), curry leaves

Boil dal.
Dilute it with water. Rasam is a watery preparation
Add tamarind paste, tomato ( cut in 4/6),haldi,rasam powder, salt, garlic paste. Bring to boil and simmer so that the rasam powder does not have a raw taste.

Once it is boiled sufficiently. Take off fire. Season - for better flavour, season with ghee.

Garnish with corriander. Serve with hot rice.
