Parupu Thogayal

Ingredients:
Tuvar Dal - 1 cup
Red chilies - to taste ( atleast 4-5)
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp (optional)
Fresh coconut - 2 tbsp grated
Asafoetida - pinch

Roast the dal, red chilies and cumin in a little oil till the dal turns slightly red. Add the asafoetida.
Grind with coconut and salt and a little water. 
Do not make it too liquidy.
And your chutney is ready.

Tastes good with hot rice.

Some people ( I read on the web) have used Moong dal too.  Will try that sometime.
